A Flourishing Dream

 

Before co-founding Omma & Laimo, I worked in interior design in Singapore, where I nurtured my creativity and attention to detail. In 2018, I returned to Malaysia to start my family, and after the birth of my first child, I discovered a new passion for baking. Like many parents, I became concerned about the preservatives and additives in store-bought bread. So, I began baking nutritious, homemade bread for my family, which quickly became a favourite among friends and neighbours, encouraging me to pursue it further.

A meaningful step in my journey came when I was invited to share my experience in Nabawan, Sabah, as part of Program Bina Kerjaya. It was a privilege to share my love for baking with the local community. Even though I hadn’t yet started a formal bakery, my home-based baking approach and experience balancing family life with a small baking business resonated with the participants. I focused on showing them how passion and skills could turn into real opportunities, even from a modest beginning.

During this time, I partnered with Mei, a talented baker who shared my vision. Working together on the program inspired us to take our shared passion further and launch an online bakery. As mothers, we both wanted to create nutritious bread for our kids, and from that dream, Omma & Laimo was born—a bakery rooted in love, family, and wholesome goodness.
